The Centre for Children of Offenders

The “Centre for Children of Offenders” in New Westminster will have permanent housing and programming space in which to:

Provide weekend, evening, and summer programs for children so that they can have peer support from other children and talk about and share their experiences; individual and in-school mentors supported by Big Brothers of the Lower Mainland; support for parents and care-givers to assist these children through a care-giver support group; and personal and family counselling help (supported by E Fry Counsellors);
Research and Education: Centre staff will liaison with and support universities to enable information and access to our clients so that the issues and problems of children of offenders are recognized, researched, and integrated into University and College curriculums dealing with social work, education, criminology, and health;
Policy: Disseminate research and coordinate effective program models with other non-profits and government to recognize the needs of these children for programs and services.
